Calgary Wild is part of the Northen Super League (“NSL”), Canada’s new professional women’s soccer league. We set out to build a team identity that feels distinctly Calgarian, but, like women’s soccer, still feels like its pushing towards and focusing on the future.
Position Summary:
As the first team Performance Analyst, you will report directly to the Head Coach. Your role will involve using video and data to support the development and application of Calgary Wild FC’s game model. You will play a key role in analyzing upcoming opponents and using those insights to aid individual player development. This role includes travel to all away matches and attendance at all home matches.
Key Responsibilities:
– Use available data and video to identify trends and develop opposition analysis pre-,during, and post-match.
-Coordinate the filming and analysis of all training sessions and ensure it is uploaded to proper platforms.
– Manage live matchday analysis systems and workflows to provide coaching staff with in game and immediate post-match tactical analysis.
– Set up and take down all cameras used to record training and matches, including the Hudl camera that must be mounted and calibrated before every home match.
– Craft captivating data visualisations and reports that translate complex insights into actionable strategies for technical staff.
– Support the alignment of performance and scouting data, collaborating with the recruitment team to deliver a holistic approach to squad planning.
– Assist in the development and collection of robust performance metrics and KPI’s which enables Calgary Wild FC’s playing philosophy to be measured and optimised.
– Build a database of the teams and players in the NSL, creating opposition and player profiles identifying key trends in game play.
– Ensure the back-up of all recorded training sessions and matches as well as live-match and post-match presentations.
– Manage and organize all back-end storage in accordance with club policies and ensure files are easily accessible for technical staff and those needing to access files regularly.
– Other duties as reasonably assigned by manager.
Qualifications:
– Minimum 3-5 years successfully delivering performance analysis in an elite football environment including data analysis and visualization.
– Post-secondary education in data science, sports science, performance analysis, or related field.
– High level of knowledge and proficiency in sports analysis systems including Hudl Sportscode.
– Data collection and analysis experience in Excel, Tableau, Python, or similar.
– Coaching experience and a strong tactical knowledge of football.
– Minimum CSA B license (or equivalent) is desirable
– Excellent attention to detail.
– Ability to react quickly and positively under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
– Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
– Ability and willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
